For a long time I couldn’t understand why people went out for or ate brunch… I always woke up too early to wait until about 11 am to eat! It wasn’t until I was on exchange in Australia, about a year ago, when I finally understood what the rage was about and why people love and appreciate a good, quality brunch! I also developed a love of coffee while I was there, I would always order a long black (the closest to that in Canada is an americano).
While I was in Australia I lived in Melbourne. I managed to travel to Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Cairns, and I made it over to New Zealand as well. During my travels there was no shortage of coffee shops that serve up delicious (and usually decorative) breakfast fare! A few of my favourite items to order were avocado on artisanal sourdough (avo toast), pancakes (hotcakes), and chia seed pudding (chia pudding)!
The morning I arrived back in Canada my parents and close gf of mine, Margaret, picked me up from the airport and brought me to Cora’s for brunch… and after experiencing the taste high-quality, fresh, gorgeous looking, delicious (…I could go on and on…) brunch during my exchange the americanized version did not compare… at all. I was very disappointed.
If you’re looking to experience, in my opinion, the best Aussie Brekkie in Toronto then head to Baddies. It’s a located at Bloor and Lansdowne, just outside of Lansdowne Station (679 Lansdowne Ave.).
